On Cross-country Skis Without Borders
Do try the connected Czech and Polish cross-country skiing trails during this winter season!Interconnection of cross-country skiing trails between Harrachov and the Polish Jakuszyce is improved step by step after our joining the Schengen Zone. Using the skibus funded by the Harrachov Association for Development of Tourism you can reach (free of charge) the Jakuszyce resort where the high competition of the World Cup in Cross Country Skiing will be organized before long and where tens of kilometres of treated cross-country skiing tracks begin. From here we recommend to start out the physically undemanding trails leading predominantly through a forest into the settlement Orle, a few kilometres distant. When returning, it is preferable to use the tourist border crossing close to the railway station Harrachov – Mýtiny (railway route Tanvald – Harrachov – Szklarska Poreba). To save the forces, from the railway station you can use the regular bus connection to the centre of Harrachov (daylight hours). Thanks to excellent snow conditions there is also a new possibility - on the way home from Jakuszyce - to try the cross-country ski and cross-border connection on the Misar route ending on the parking place close to the Harrachov biathlon resort. The temporary turning marking on the Czech and Polish side, highlighting this interesting alternative for the cross-country skiers, is adequate on the route. It is only necessary to pay attention when crossing the operated train track (route Harrachov – Jakuszyce).
A minor notice is attached at the end: Because the trails as above lead on the territory of two states, is it is advisable to have the valid travel document ( passport or identity card) with for possible border control!
